Exhibition Trends for 2016 by Inspire Trade Expo

Inspire Trade Expo is Africa’s only dedicated B2B, design orientated EXPO with a focus on Office Furniture, Commercial and hospitality interiors and retail. It is essential that we keep on the cutting edge of trends and in doing so are one of the only Expo’s with a dedicated trend consultant. Trend Forward headed up by Dave Nemeth has worked with us from inception and together we see the future of the Exhibition industry taking on some new challenges, that will cause it to adjust accordingly.

Firstly, visitors to an expo be it B2B or general public, have come to expect an exceptional engaging experience. Many exhibitions around the World have seen a decrease in numbers over the past few years as visitors are not interested in seeing the same things they could see in showrooms or stores. Visitors want an engaging experience where they will not only find suitable and exciting product, but also leave with a sense of having been enriched and entertained. Based on this the focus will certainly be on creating a 360° method of engaging with the consumer prior, during and after the show to ensure customer retention and loyalty at least to the next exhibition.

Assisting in this customer engagement and unique experience will be integrated digital. Integrated digital works with the vital personal interaction of well versed and knowledgeable staff on a stand and not intended to replace them in any way. The digital is there to entice and deliver a point of entry as well as capturing data but the most important aspect of an exhibition is being able to speak to a human being. The best way to look at this is to think of digital as a tool with which the staff can use to create an even better visitor experience.

Recycled and reclaimed materials for stand building are key, people relate to artisanal and authentic products and incorporating these into the stand designs will not only create exciting spaces but are also an ecologically friendly way of doing things. Anything from barrels to crates will be used as well as recycled metal, we will also see a lot more programmable LED lighting being used in conjunction with these materials.

Going forward the focus is on pushing design boundaries and creating spaces that are more exciting than we will see in the traditional shopping centres and showrooms, after all going to an exhibition has to be different to simply going shopping.

Inspire Trade Expo is SA’s exclusive Furniture + Décor + Design trade exhibition, which has carved a groove on the African business and trade calendar. Hosted at the prestigious Gallagher Convention Centre (GCC) in Midrand. Save the date for 2016 – 1-3 June (wednesday – friday) – 10am-7pm daily.
