South Africa joins International Creative Business Cup Competition


Looking for all Gauteng based entrepreneurs!

Enormous excitement for South Africans as we are able to join in  the competition for the International Creative Business Cup. The competition is celebrated for empowering entrepreneurs in creative industries by giving them the opportunity to interact with global markets and investors. By giving entrepreneurs this opportunity they are able to become a valuable contributor in their society and industry with emphasis on their own innovative skills!  

If you are in the design business in Gauteng, and believe you have great market potential then you are eligible to register for the internal competitions (under the Global Entrepreneurship Banner (GEN)). These application are open until Monday, 31 July 2017. The competitions global final is is Copenhagen every year.

There is a drive in South Africa to recognize the talent that brings a competition such as this to life! Two creative entrepreneurs, Mvuyo Ngqulana and Rick Ed have successfully secured the rights to the events. Their passion and excitement about the growth in the industry has made this a competition a not to be missed event!  It will give light to the vast creative bodies that emerge on a daily basis in South Africa, and give these individuals and companies a chance to make it big! From 2018, the South African scope will be extended to include all the creative arts and the competition will be open nationwide.

Check out the criteria for entering;
The focus for the year is on design disciplines such as interior, digital, jewelry, product, and graphic design, etc. To apply an entrant must;

  • Have a registered South African company based in Gauteng
  • Be a viable investment
  • Be able to present original business ideas from the creative industries that have strong market potential appealing to investors
  • Be able to travel to the global Creative Business Cup competition in Denmark in November 2017.

If you become a finalist, you will need receive two days on Friday, 1 September 2017 and Saturday, 2 September 2017 to refine your pitch. The two days will give finalists a business skills boot camp which is expertly run to prepare finalists for the judging panel in the final round.

On Saturday, 2 September 2017, the local winner will be announced making them the South African Representative at the global finals in Copenhagen on Thursday, 16 November 2017. The finals will showcase more than 60 national winners who will compete for the overall winning title.
