University of Johannesburg Department of Applied Information Systems – IT Project Management
From IT Chaos to IT Prosperity
It’ s a fact, sometimes IT projects fail. According to 2011 research done by the department of Applied Information Systems, 40% of IT projects are still failing. Failure could be blamed on budget, timing, unrealistic expectations and the list is endless. But when it comes to the crunch, often the key, missing ingredient is the knowledge and ability to effectively manage projects.
If, however, an individual has been trained according to international guidelines and standards, all the tools of the trade are at their disposal. This enables a professional and structured approach to projects large and small, significantly contributing to the likelihood that an IT project will succeed.
The broader objective of these courses is to facilitate the development of competent IT project managers for the ever-growing industry. Once they have completed any of the courses, individuals will be able to promote personal and professional growth, assume leadership and management roles in IT projects, enhance their marketability and employability and open up access to further education and training.
