AVBOB (Africa’s largest mutual assurance society) has donated a cash donation of R500 000 towards the Western Cape disaster relief initiative. Their CEO, Frik Rademan, says that this contribution was spurred by the company’s own employees.
The AVBOB employees from Pretoria, Bloemfontein and the Western Cape initiated this process to collect and deliver much-needed necessities to the people affected by the disaster.
As part of the drive to support those in need, the Bloemfontein business community approached AVBOB to assist with the transportation of their donated goods. AVBOB agreed and made a large truck available to ensure that donated goods safely reach it destination.
“We are both humbled and thankful that we are able to make this contribution to alleviate the hardship that the people in the Western Cape are currently experiencing. After all, AVBOB belongs to the people, and these are our people too,” says Rademan. “In the same way that our staff has inspired us to get involved, we trust that this gesture will inspire more South African companies to do the same.”
