About Huawei

As a global telecoms equipment and solutions vendor, Huawei operates in a competitive, scarce skills sector. ICT is South Africa’s new economic life line and we need the right skills to meet the country’s digital transformation ambitions.  Huawei is cognisant of the role it plays in skills transfer and supporting small, medium and micro enterprises to benefit not only our business objectives, but society and the economy. Our enterprise and supplier development plan is focused on empowering SMME’s to deliver projects effectively and efficiently and become financially and operationally independent.

  • Huawei supplies SMME’s with high value, specialized equipment; that is often prohibitively expensive.
  • SMMEs get EHS training, to ensure compliance and awareness of EHS requirements.
  • Huawei is also heavily invested in IT technology training, Core network Technology, Fixed Network Technology and Huawei Product Training.
  • In order to assist the SMMEs with cash flow and business development, Huawei provides limited direct grants to qualifying companies.

One of Huawei’s mobile broadband improvement projects requires sub-contractors to have specialist climbing gear and safety training among other competencies. Huawei recently provided training and personal protective equipment (PPE) to the Mothetho Group. “This not only helps the company deliver on this project, it will help us grow faster and create more jobs,” says Philemon Manganye, Executive Director, Mothetho Group. “The donation goes beyond the PPE, we are able to train many more employees. The company is looking forward to initially doubling its employees from 70 to 140 and ultimately to 300, added Manganye.
