Robert Leggat is equally renowned for his iconic dolphin sculpture in the centre of Plettenberg Bay, as well as for his intricate limited editions of animals and birds. His versatility is exceptional and his range of unlimited bronze editions make the perfect corporate gift.

Robert Leggat, the internationally renowned sculptor, who started his own bronze foundry in 2006, subsequently opening a Studio/Gallery alongside to display his work.   Private and Public views of the sculpture are held here together with Gallery talks and “BRONZE POURS”. Guests are taught about the lost wax method of creating a bronze sculpture and witness the exhilarating moment when the molten bronze is poured into the ceramic moulds.  This is always one of the highlights of the Plett season.

Robert works in various mediums and combines bronze and silver, often incorporating semi-precious stones. Robert spends many hours observing, drawing and sketching from life, using subjects such as, black-shouldered kites.  This enables him to produce anatomically correct pieces of remarkable sensitivity.  He is very well known for his subtle patinas which are extremely difficult to achieve and demand great skill and patience.

His work is extremely versatile as you will see on the website, and consists amongst others LIMITED EDITIONS of;

majestic raptors, francolin and guinea fowl, small seedeaters;  He has created a magnificent Friesian horse standing at  18 hands, out of recycled car tyres; two life- size leopards cleverly fashioned out of spent cartridge cases and other mediums. Robert’s creative imagination is boundless and he readily accepts individual commissions for sculptures, from clients.

He accepts commissions as well and enjoys the challenge of creating sculptures to the personal specifications of the buyer.
