About The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP)


Moving SA forward through efficient regulation of the architectural profession.

The South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) was established in terms of Section 2 of the Architectural Profession Act No. 44 of 2000 to provide for the registration of professionals; candidates; and specified categories in the architectural profession. SACAP is further established to provide for the regulation of the relationship between the SACAP and Council for the Built Environment (CBE); and to provide for matters connected therewith. As a regulator, SACAP is enjoined to protect the public by law to setting up standards for persons’ education and training; conduct; keep a register of Registered Persons who meet those standards; approve programs which Registered Persons must complete to register with SACAP; and take action when Registered Persons on the register do not meet the prescribed standard.
